Learning

AI automation to learn a skill in 30 days

Lays out short daily sessions for a month, a quiz at the end of each week, and flashcards you can import. The first quiz changes the next week.

Level: Augment.

Trigger

Each day, for about twenty minutes

Setup

about 30 min (estimate)

Before you start

Steps

  1. Name the skill and where you are

One sentence for the skill, and one for what you can already do. Say how many minutes you will actually spend.

  2. Ask for the month

Paste that note. Custom instructions: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6825453-chatgpt-custom-instructions

Build a 30-day practice plan from the skill and level I paste. Each day is one session of the length I named, about twenty minutes unless I said otherwise. Week 1 teaches one small piece. Day 7 is a short quiz, not a new lesson. Do not promise I will master this. Do not add rest-day lectures. Leave days 8 to 30 as a sketch that the quiz can change.
  3. Put the session on the calendar

Create a repeating event for the length you named. Title it Practice. Create an event: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/72143

  4. Turn today's session into cards

Paste what you just did. Save the file as plain text and import it only after you read it. Anki text import: https://docs.ankiweb.net/manual/importing/text-files

Write flashcards from the session I paste. Plain text, one card a line, front then a tab then back. Eight cards at most. Use only what I practised. Do not add a new topic.
  5. Take the day-7 quiz

Answer without notes. Paste what you missed, not a score you invented.

Quiz me on week 1 in five questions. After I answer, name the one miss. Rewrite days 8 to 14 so that miss gets the time. Do not make any day longer.
  6. Keep or cut one topic

If the quiz was solid, drop that topic next week. If it was not, repeat it. Do not add a second daily session.

Example output

Days 1 to 7: the basic grip and one short piece, twenty minutes.
Day 7 quiz: the chorus timing was the miss.
Days 8 to 14: the chorus only, still twenty minutes, plus eight cards.
Calendar: 07:10 each day, titled Practice.
Cards: one line each, front then back, separated by a tab.

Power move

After a session, the chat writes flashcards as tab-separated text you can import into Anki. The day-7 quiz may repeat a topic or drop one. It may not add a second hour.

What to check

  • Each day is about twenty minutes, not a new course.
  • The day-7 change matches what you actually missed.
  • You can read every card before it is imported.

What it can't do

It does not make you skilled in a month, and it does not watch you practise. A plan can be too hard. Stop if something hurts. Read every card before you import it.

Privacy

Paste only the text a chat tool needs. Leave out passwords, account numbers, and identity numbers. The steps link to each tool's own help page when a setting matters.
